Decisions: Overwatch

After researching into some characters from the game Overwatch. I decided to choose a small selection of male characters to draw and to then attempt to redraw them as female characters.

Choice One

There was an alternative such as Reinhardt below. Initially I immediately thought the character was a robot. After looking into his backstory it is actually a human male in a suit of armor. Given enough time I will be attempting to draw this also, however it does beg the question why wasn't a female chosen to be the operator. Though it makes no difference to the online multiplayer game with friends.

Now for the drawings...

Initial shapes chosen then moved onto finer details for the male version

Added further detail with more defined lines and base colours. The initial drawing I enjoyed doing, however colouring is not my best skill and will need further practice.
Above is the female version, I began with trousers; I thought about changing them to a skirt, however just slim lined and adjusting the hips worked well. From there changes were made to the face and hair. It seemed the easiest option, though a Mohawk could have been given but a short punk style was easy enough. .

Even though there are somewhat subtle changes to the drawings I considered changing the weapons and even though the colouring is not completed it shows that it is not that difficult to do. The bust area of the female version is still visible but is covered modestly and there is no need for the flesh to be shown. The same could be said for the male version also; why is there is a need to show a defined chest on the male?
On the drawing of the female the boots are quite large and clunky but personal experience with Doc Martins or even New Rock boots, they can be large and clunky, so why change them!

A week ago Josh mentioned where's the line drawn to the point where a female bodybuilder loses her feminine qualities. Which made me wonder why I slimmed down the trousers to be more 'fitting'. Essentially they could have been left baggy also.

If this character was created as a female hero initially, would the movement of the character be different? Obviously the voice would have been different.
