His background Story:
At its height, Overwatch possessed one of the most advanced armaments on the planet, which could be traced to the workshop of an ingenious engineer named Torbjörn Lindholm.
Before the Omnic Crisis, Torbjörn had gained notoriety for designing weapons systems used by countries around the world. However, his belief that technology must serve a better vision for humanity put him at odds with his employers, who desired to control his weapons using networked computer intelligence.
Torbjörn had a deep mistrust of sentient robotic intelligence, and while many of his peers wrote this off as paranoia, his worst fears were realized when the robot populations of the world turned against their human creators during the Omnic Crisis. Because of his engineering genius, he was recruited to join the original Overwatch strike team, and his many inventions proved integral to ending the crisis. In the years that followed, Overwatch became an international peacekeeping force, and Torbjörn remained a critical resource for all of its technological needs and signature weapons systems.
But in the aftermath of Overwatch's fall, many of Torbjörn's weapons were stolen or stashed away around the world. Feeling responsible for his creations, Torbjörn is determined to stop them from falling into the wrong hands and wreaking havoc on the innocent.

I began drawing his basic shapes as outlined in the image below. This allowed me to plan the scale and size of him as using a Surface Pro tablet, I didn't want to be zooming in and out.
After doing so I was able to add further detail, working on a rough outline, then concentrating on one section at a time, i.e. robotic arm, beard, etc.
I concentrated more on the colouring this time, as personally I felt that's what let the previous images down. I've still got a lot to learn when it comes to colouring. As a child I would always go for the charcoal!
For the female version, and, having read Tolkien, I was debating on whether or not the female dwarf should have a beard...
"They seldom travelled in the outside world, only in great need, and when they did, they were dressed as men; with similar voice and appearance as male Dwarves, even when they are rarely seen they are usually mistaken for a male. All Dwarves had beards from the beginning of their lives"
Even though there is much debate around female dwarves it's safe to conclude that they are also short and stocky as a male dwarf would be illustrated.
I have completed the changes for the female dwarf as shown below, and decided against the beard but this could be utilised in another drawing to show the difference. For now I am just concentrating on adapting the character's gender.
Not much has been adapted in this image, as you can see the beard has been removed and the features of the face has been changed. Slight change in the hips/belt and thighs but nothing too noticable. I am not happy with the human arm, as it looks too musular for her. Especially in proportion to her head as it wasn't changed at all from the original male version.
All in all it has been a learning curve, as I maybe never would have created such a muscular female character, but that could mean I too may have overly sexualised female drawings too once.
