A colleague of mine pointed me towards Overwatch, more specifically because of the previous characters that have been released, all of them have been female.
According to Colin Campbell who had an interview Jeff Kaplan the director there is currently 24 heroes, featuring 12 womenm 11 men and 3 non humans. Among those born on Earth, nine are from majority Caucasian countries in Europe, North America and Australia. Ten are from countries in Asia, South / Middle America and Africa. So the male / female and the white / non-white split is about fifty / fifty.
This article highlights my previous drawings on poses of the character immediately shows the stance on a persons perspective, though in this instance it was a test run or a female characters pose showing her backside off.

With comments such as this:
"What I'm asking is that as you continue to add to the [Overwatch] cast and investment elements, you double down on your commitment to create strong female characters. You've been doing a good job so far, but shipping with a [Tracer] pose like this undermines so much of the good you've already done."
At the end of the article Jeff Kaplan made a statement in the forum, and in turn they as a company decided to create something better and go with a different pose. Though this wasn't pandering or caving, but a right call.
The overwatch female characters can be found in the pinterest link above. With the most recent one being Orisa as discussed below by Jeff who provides some insight to her backstory, abilities and overall stragey.
However I was more interested in the character along with D-Va, another female character within the game.

D-va, the main focus is that d-va is the 19 year old female within the mechanised armored drone unit called MEKA. Aside form this it's pink and has a small waist. Without D-Va, would the meka be pink?
Orisa - Looking at Orisa, a large bulky Guardian Robot with 4 legs, a small waist, a draped cloth in the centre and horns/ears/tusks that possibly resembles hair? It would be very difficult to tell if the background story didn't refer to Orisa as a 'she' or 'her' numerous times.
So far this is the best colouring I have seen within a female character, though I would personally prefer a darker colour. Though as with Dota 2, LOL and Overwatch, once the character has made it's place new skins can be brought out to give the user a choice and variation.
