Further to gathering some information I have sourced numerous articles on Gamification, specifically regarding the Octalysis framework, designed by Yu-kai Chou, which he created after 10 years of gamification research and study.
Noting that within a year of publication the document had been translated into nine difference languages and became required literature. He focuses on the 8 core drives of gamification.
Ron Bentata has also created a public tool for measuring octalysis to measure the score of the core drives and enables a short review based on the results.

There is also Jane McGonigals TED talks and more importantly her recently new published book, SuperBetter: How a gameful life can make you stronger, happier, braver and more resilient. Being the person in the world to earn a Ph.D studying the psychological strengths of games and how those strengths can translate to real-world problem solving. In 2009 jane hit her head and got a concussion, which didn't heal properly and left her with constant headache, nausea and vertigo.
The book looks at how a game had essentially saved her life.
